The thought of healthy eating probably runs through your mind a dozen times a day. Most of us are at risk of getting dehydrated quickly during this summer and experiencing low energy levels, which is another symptom of being hit by it. Hence, it is important that we should take extra care during the hot season. Most of us lead lives where we’ve been inconspicuously tucked into an unhealthy food routine and are desperately trying to claw our way out of it.

From eating right to following certain lifestyle changes, we can beat the hazardous impacts of summer. Here we have listed five foods that you should definitely add to your diet to fight against the hot climate effects.


Green Leafy Vegetables:

Having green leafy vegetables around the year gives you numerous benefits. And adding them to your daily diet is also beneficial as greens contain a high amount of water content and nutrients. Remember to avoid over-cooking these vegetables as it could cause loss of water content in them.


Lime Water:

Lime water, also referred to as nimboo pani is a refreshing drink for summer. A glass of lime water provides many health benefits. You can have sweet limewater or add salt, a pinch of cumin powder to enhance its flavor. Lime water keeps you chilled and refreshed all day long.


You may be surprised to know that onions too provide cooling properties. Eating them raw may ruin your taste, hence sprinkle it with lemon and salt and prepare salads. Another way to consume onions is by adding it to your vegetables, curries, and raita. Red onions are loaded with quercetin, which is considered a natural anti-allergen. Adding onion to your daily diet also helps in protecting you against sun-stroke.


This inexpensive herb is easily available with almost all vegetable vendors. Adding mint in curd, drinks, or in raita could give you added benefits. You can also prepare mint chutney, which is a common sauce prepared in almost all Pakistani households. Mint not only keeps your body temperature cool but also gives you a refreshing taste.


Yogurt is not only delicious but also gives a cooling effect on the body. You can have yogurt in different variants too. Make spicy buttermilk or sweet lassi. You can also consume yogurt by making raita. Another option to eat yogurt is by adding seasonal fruits in it or by making lip-smacking smoothies.
