Amichi Pizzeria & Kitchen
Three amicis (friends in Italian), tired of the corporate rat race, decided to join forces and create a small pizzeria and pasta place with one unique selling point at the epicenter of the establishment; the option to customize and build your own pizza or pasta starting from the base up! With a host of different options, from the numerous toppings to countless sauces, I knew I had to head on over to Amichi (located on Khayaban-e-Nishat) and see for myself.
The ambiance of the restaurant is what is en vogue nowadays in K-town. It’s smaller looking in from the outside, but the seating area is surprisingly spacious and comfortable, with a mix of booths and tables reminiscent of an American Mom and Pop diner. The kitchen is open for all to see, leaving the eatery full of delicious aromas.
Of course, there is an entire menu to choose from, including appetizers and desserts that had to be put to the test. I didn’t want to go too crazy, so I opted for some classic Jalapeno Cheese Poppers, which were a true delight: 5 per serving, fried to perfection with a crunchy golden exterior, and filled with a cheesy, delicious mouthful, delivering the promised slight kick of jalapeno heat.
However, I knew I had to take advantage of the option to make your own pizza and pasta, but decided on keeping it relatively simple because I didn’t know what to expect. With an attentive server to help along the way, I know I wanted to add classic mozzarella to my pizza for that proper stretchy cheese texture, along with the ricotta (Yes, actual ricotta, no cottage cheese replacement). I chose a whole wheat pizza base with a classic red sauce, with ricotta and mozzarella cheese, Italian chicken, jalapenos, mushrooms, onions, and sundried tomatoes. Let me tell ya – they didn’t skimp on any of the toppings! Each bite was heavenly and packed with flavors, and I loved the idea that my custom made dish was hitting all the right spots.
For the pasta, I chose the housemade fettuccine, chicken, traditional tomato sauce, ricotta, fresh mushrooms and spinach. For any Italian foodie, this is it – we have found the perfect spot! Each authentic component and fresh ingredient came together to create just the pasta dish I was looking for.
With a little guidance from my server, and my own preferences, what I consumed on my first visit was truly amazing! I’ve been recommending Amichi to everyone I run into and looking for an excuse to go back. I mean, what’s not to love – the ingredients are top notch, there is a variety of selections to choose from (trust me, I was torn between options of ricotta, mozzarella, parmesan and cheddar) and the carbs are worth it. Best of all, for everything ordered, the bill came to a very reasonable PKR. 2350ish – which was fitting as the helpings were mammoth!
My only regret, and yes I do have one – is that I was simply too full to indulge in dessert. This only means I simply must go back, because their signature lemon meringue pie is calling out my name.
This place is a fantastic find and I highly recommend everyone to give it a try
