English Tea House

English Tea House is located in the posh area of Lahore – Defence and Gulberg, and while it started off at the back of Yum, it has now evolved into a must-try eatery of the city. The restaurant offers a little something for everyone – with an extensive breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner menu.

The exterior architecture of the restaurant is enchanting; the thoughtfully designed red brick building has colorful teal accents and a beautiful garden trail that you can see from the sunroom, which is adorned from floor to ceiling glass. The outdoor area is homey and comfortable and is a great spot to enjoy a meal while taking in the pleasant afternoon weather. Inside the ambiance is inviting and cozy with spacious seating options.

As we got settled into our table, our friendly wait staff handed over the extensive and varied menu. After deciding to try a variety of house specials, we ended up all sharing the most popular items that were chef recommended.

Pesto Feta Sandwich

The sandwich was slightly underwhelming, because the flavor of the pesto was too mild and hence made the dish a little forgettable. Also, the fries on the side didn’t seem fresh and crispy – nothing to rave home about. (6/10)

Pepperoni Pizza

This thin-crust pizza was topped with pepperoni, hot peppers, tomatoes and basil, and each of the fresh ingredients came together harmoniously. It was tasty and flavourful – all with perfect texture and for around PKR. 1,000/ (8/10)

Chicken Roulade

This one hit the spot! The filling was bang on point and very flavorful. The chicken was cooked perfectly and the creamy sauce complimented the dish overall. I’d rate this one a 9/10!

Chicken Alfredo Pasta

I saved the best dish for the end because this pasta was truly heaven! It was perfectly creamy and rich in flavor, and was served along some crispy and buttery garlic bread. It has to be one of the tastiest pasta I’ve ever had. For me, this dish is a 10/10 and it isn’t even expensive!! It’s just for under PKR. 1,000/

And of course, a summer night out can never be completed without drinks. I had to make a special mention to the refreshing peach drink, which was the perfect addition to our table.

We didn’t order the dessert because we were full by that time; however, I have already added all the things I must try the next time I visit this place. The quality and quantity of the food was just right. Along with being super affordable, it has a great ambiance and a diverse menu, making for a great choice for your next night out on the town.
