GET BAKED! 5 WAYS TO JAZZ UP YOUR BOXED BROWNIES
With most of us in quarantine – we have a lot of ideal time on our hands. Some take to gardening, some to knitting, but from our Insta feed it looks like everyone is enjoying some extra time in the kitchen!
One east to throw together treat has always been boxed baked. We recently tried and tested the Mayo Cake Hack and it worked wonders, so we decided to experiment some more and see how we can take boxed brownie mixes up a notch! Here are five ways you can elevate your brownies!
- BETTER WITH BUTTER
To get that gooey texture – replace oil with melted butter. Make sure it’s salted, or you can sprinkle some at the end.
- ADD AN EXTRA EGG
For a more cake-like texture to your brownies, an extra egg will do the trick. You can even stick to just adding the yolk as well.
- MORE CHEESE PLEASE
Did you know you could easily take your mix and turn them into cheesecake bites? You’ll need 1 1/2 blocks of cream cheese, 1 egg, 2 Tablespoons of flour, 1/2 cup sugar and 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla for the cheesecake swirl. These few ingredients will take your basic bites to new heights.
- NUTELLA NEVER HURT
Not looking to add too much extra, but still want a change? A few spoons of Nutella folded into your batter will add that nutty after-tone.
- CANDY CALLING
Sometimes, there is nothing better than letting your inner child loose. Add in chocolate chips, biscuits (OREOS are always a good idea) or any kind of candy bar to make those brownies your signature. We personally love to throw in some Rolo’s for that delicious caramel layer.
